Energy and Climate Change

We all know climate change is real - increased flooding locally, earlier spring times - no deep snow fall across the region for years.  Internationally we have melting ice caps and spreading deserts.

Beat has two programmes that are working to tackle climate change - one by planting trees locally and another by helping community buildings reduce their energy and water use!

Take a look.

Other Beat programmes also help reduce climate change too as by reusing waste - as with the Why Waste Programme, and the timber reuse project, and not creating waste with the real nappy project - we can all reduce waste going to landfill.  This reduces that carbon foot print from the materials as it uses less energy to use something again or recycle it - than to make new from raw materials.  Recycling and reusing also reduces the methane gas that results when products break down on landfill sites.  Methane is a powerful green house gas 21 times worse than CO2.

We are keen to start other programmes tackling climate change - do let us know your ideas - or even better if we can work in partnership with you to deliver a programme
