Make Disposables History

Published Jun 27, 2024

Another successful year for the Big Teddy Bears' Picnic in Lister Park and the launching of our new campaign to make disposables history

Bradford Real Nappy Project with the help of local Sure Starts, Bradford Council, and local nappy businesses (Nappy Train (nappy laundry), Little Ogres and Baby Bean) held their 3rd event for young families in Lister Park on Thursday 21st June. This year was the biggest ever with more than 750 families attending.

The event is used by many local originations working with children, and families to highlight their work, as well as bringing a spotlight on real nappies with activates for children like making toy nappies for their teddies, and a chance for parents to find out more themselves and buy real nappies if they want to.

"We were thrilled to have such good attendance with the weather looking so uncertain and we had a tremendous response to the launch of our Make Disposables History campaign."

Cathy Henwood, Bradford Real Nappy Project Manager

We used the event this year to launch our new campaign to MAKE DISPOSABLES HISTORY with a Fantastic Real Nappy Parade, we invited all families who use cloth nappies and are proud of it to come and join in, a few dressed up to show off their supper nappies and we all paraded round with banners.  We started a petition for all who think real nappies are a great idea with people and organisations signing up to MAKE DISPOSABLES HISTORY.

Please support our petition for all who think real nappies are a great idea by signing up to: MAKE DISPOSABLES HISTORY

Both my children use real nappies and they're wonderful: uncomplicated and save £££s! (the nappies, not the children, though they're wonderful too!)

There's so many benefits to using reusables - in my opinion it's a no-brainer! I can't understand why everyone doesn't use them!

so many reasons to use real nappies - it's no contest really, it's just a matter of do people have the time to change their thinking - why not think and grow to care for for your family and the bigger picture, isn't this part of motherhood............

We have used real nappies for both of our children and number three will be in them when it arrives. It is great to see the growing number of people using them but others still need to made aware of how easy they are to use, how well they work and how cheap they are.

I used real nappies on my daughter and saw so many benefits- we saved a fortune for one, poppy didnt seem to suffer from nappy rash as much as friends babies, we sold them once we had finished with them, and helped the planet all at the same time. super! we support you all the way :)

Becoming a new 1st time mum I was always determined to use real nappies for two reasons. 1 for the sake of the environment and 2 because they are kinder to baby skin. I hope other people learn how easy to use they are and how much money you can save!

I use real nappies on my daughter and our friend gave us a whole kit as her children had grown out of them. Fantastic, great for the environment.

I'm using real nappies with my first baby- they're easy to use, don't leak as much as disposable ones, and she's never had nappy rash.

I started using cloth for the enviromental benefits but got a lot more from them including saving money. Wish I had used them with number 1. Would never go back to disposables.
