Water is a vital resource – essential for life to exist, and a resource which can often be taken for granted and is becoming scarcer. Increasingly people are recognising the importance of saving water, particularly as water meters become common for businesses and homes.
BEAT are currently managing a project to help community centres save energy and water. For more details click here.
BEAT have the following Top Tips to save water:
Install a water hippo or save-a-flush in your toilet
Turn off taps when they are not needed (like when brushing your teeth)
Take a shower, not a bath
Consider reduced flow devices such as aerators, or different shower heads
Purchase water efficient appliances when considering new equipment
Above all, BEAT recommends you regularly read your meter, and monitor your water use to check for any potential problems or leaks. Yorkshire Water and Envirowise are useful organisations for further information.
